koala-bus-fires21There would not be many of us that has not shed more than a tear or two this past week as we have heard of and seen the devastation of the fires in Victoria unfold before us.

Firstly, all of us @ mrd offer our sincere condolences to those who have been directly affected by this tragedy. We have clients and friends living in affected areas and to them we say that our thoughts, our hearts and our prayers are with you and your families at this very difficult time.

There is not a great deal the average person can do other than to donate financially to the bush fire appeal. We have given via the Red Crossand encourage everyone else to do likewise.

Let’s face it, the size of your gift helps, but this should not overshadow our need to be personally involved; not to mention the corresponding blessing of being involved. There is a greater blessing in giving than there is in receiving.

As Katrina and I have done, maybe you could encourage your children to donate something as well. Giving kids the opportunity to see that they too can add value to the plight of so many devastated families will build their self esteem, teach them a valuable lesson and reinforce the truth that they can make a difference. What a fantastic opportunity to do good for others while at the same time reinforce the significance of each individuals unique ability to play a role of significance!
